Plan B 3.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization (2008)

«Keeping the [global economic] bubble from bursting will require an unprecedented degree of international cooperation to stabilize population, climate, water tables, and soils – and at wartime speed. Indeed, in both scale and urgency the effort required is comparable to the US mobilization during World War II.»
Lester R. Brown, Plan B (2003)

The new book from Lester R. Brown is out and can be downloaded here.

«There are many things we do not know about the future. But one thing we do know is that business as usual will not continue for much longer. Massive change is inevitable. Will the change come because we move quickly to restructure the economy or because we fail to act and civilization begins to unravel?»

  1. Although there is much truth in this words, I can’t help but think that the global community is not yet open to the efforts that need to be made in order to put this plan to action.
As long as people think that the climate change is a matter of opinion, nothing really important can be done to alter this road we’re heading.

    Hello Mauro!
I have to agree with you that the global community is not ready for drastic changes in their daily lives to ‘save’ the planet. But as you can see in my post of the 2. Mai (link below), there is no political interest in changing the habits of the polulation, at least in the US case (but I think this is valid for many countries), since this would influence (probably negatively) the economy of the country. In fact, some goverments even try to deny global warming and to convince their populations that it does not exist.

I think, if there is political will, also the population will follow their leaders!
